Okay, I am finished talking about the Veterans Administration. After spending many months tracking down the form DD214 for hubby to get into the VA system, taking him to get his physical, filling out the paperwork and then being approached for him to go to day care, visiting the day care, and having the director come Monday to visit us, I received a phone call today saying we are not eligible for any help from the VA. We are above the financial restrictions. Okay then. Hubby told me yesterday that he didn't want to go there. He said he is happy to watch his movies and stay here. I am not surprised as I didn't think he would go, or he would go once and not go back. He said he didn't want to talk about the service anyway. However when the director came that is all he talked about - his stories from being in the Marines! So we are right back to square one. I will continue to go out for short periods and our sons will come and spend time on the weekends. We are doing okay.

I am entering todays card in the Colour Q challenge. I love these colors together and I cut three of each size heart and can mix and match to make several cards. I also used scraps of cardstock so I will also enter http://pixiescraftyworkshop.blogspot.com/. Be kind to one another.

"Not eligible for assistance??" I thought ALL Vets were eligible for help...he fought in a war, he should be eligible I would think...but who am I. This whole country is surely messed up. It's good your husband has you to fight his battles.

Card is really cute....simple and to the point. I shall have to check out that website. I did up about 14 cards last night...have to finish and put some of them in my Etsy store. Louise

OMGosh, are you kidding Brenda?! That is so not right! All Vets should be eligible just because they are Vets! Our country makes me so mad sometimes, we really don't take care of our Hero's and they give all! I'm so proud of how you fight for your husband Brenda, I'm in awe of you! I know you said he wouldn't go or go back, but it sounded like he was enjoying talking to the director that came to meet him so I can't help but to think that he would have enjoyed it, at least for a little while. Well I am going to keep this in my prayers, all things work out the way they are supposed to. I love your card and that color combo, so pretty!! Hugs, Brenda

I don't know how the VA system works in the US, but from what you say, it doesn't sound fair way of treating veterans.

Love your card with the different coloured hearts layered. xx

That's so not fair that your husband isn't eligible for assistance, Brenda. I'm sorry you had to go through all that for nothing. Your card is beautiful!! I love the colors and the pretty hearts!! Have a great evening :)

So sorry you have come up against the unexplainable mechanisms of the system. Life can be so unfair at times.
I like this card especially the layering up of the heart. Hugs Mrs A.

Brenda, quick, go over to Carolina Mary's blog! She has blog candy for you!!

Your experience with the VA makes my blood boil. It's a wonder we have a standing government at all with all the ineptitude that abounds!! Big hugs to you!! Your Valentine is so pretty! Just perfect for the challenge!! Hugs, Darnell

Well, first of all this is a lovely card Brenda! Gorgeous heart there.

I can already see that there's some angry folk here - and rightly so! The main thing is that you do get some time out for yourself - and could you unplug the microwave when you go out and have to leave hubby alone? I have visions of you taking the fuse out of the plug each time :)

Big hugs

Di xx

Oh no! My first comment disappeared. I just said how I love this card and am not surprised there are some angry people commenting here!

Sounds like you are going though a difficult time Brenda - it seems worldwide that the ones who need help and assistance are quite often the ones who don't get it. Hope things gets sorted for you. In the mean time, your card is lovely - it reminded me that I have some scalloped circles lurking in my stash - I must get them out and use them! Thanks for playing along at Colour Q this week!

So pretty. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with the VA benefits. I see this all the time and it saddens me that things that were promised to men putting their lives on the line for our country aren't being delivered.

Brenda, I'm so with everyone else on our wonderful USA VA - the heros of our country really get appreciated, don't they? We have had some of these same battles, but for different reasons. At least WE know what our loved ones sacrificed for their country. Good luck with the care giving too...you have a very positive outlook, which is wonderful for your DH too. On to your card: Love the CAS which let those wonderful pink hearts just shine against the charcoal of the gray background. Well done! (and thanks to our Darnell for the shoutout!) Hugs & TFS
